My First Alabama Chanin Corset

I finally did it! I made a corset out of an old T-shirt Alabama Chanin style! Yesterday I copied and cut out the patterns and today I cut the fabric (I de-constructed the T-shirt awhile ago though) and sewed everything by hand.

While in the States for Thanksgiving, I was given a bunch of unwanted T-shirts (by my Parents-In-Law) which I asked for specifically in order to make a few corsets.

All the patterns and instructions come from one of the books by Natalie Chanin. Both her work and her philosophy are really worth checking out! She seems to be an incredibly inspiring person.

It took me only a few hours to sew it by hand and I liked the result well enough that I’ve already started making a new one 🙂
